We’re Number One: Fall Foliage Fans and Leaf Peepers

Yes! Someone has finally realized that you don’t have to go any further than Otsego County, 30 minutes outside of Albany New York, to see great Fall foliage.

And that someone is no less than CNN/Money Magazine.

So, leaf-peepers and foliage fans, think about making New York State your new destination for gorgeous Autumnal displays. But don’t take our word for it. Here’s what CNN/Money says about the area:

Many travelers say the mountainous terrain, heavy on the maples and oaks, is as spectacular in the fall as what you’ll find in such nearby New England states as Vermont and New Hampshire. Plus, within walking distance of Cooperstown’s old-fashioned downtown is the nine-mile-long Otsego Lake, which looks all the more picture-perfect in the autumn.

Okay, so they talk about Cooperstown, not Roseboom, but hey, we’re only a few minutes away from Cooperstown, and what a foliage-watchers’ drive that is, with great views going over County Route 52 from Copperstown and up State Road 166 to Roseboom. See all the tree-covered hills lining Cherry Valley Creek as it winds down to the Susquehanna.

(And why not stop in a the Roseboom Cafe for a great sandwich or supper, or to stock up on delicious Stannard’s maple syrup, made right here in these hills.)
